2011 Fireworks Party Recap

Thank you for making another party successful! We had a great time visiting with friends and meeting new people…and our generous friends raised $1800.00 for CultureWorks. That’s a lot of toilet paper in the theater!

John spent the night behind the bar disguised as Cocktail Geek (Photo by Taylor Putney)Special thanks to John who worked tirelessly behind the bar all night and truly earned his cocktail geek badge. The big hit was his Ginger Beer Mojito…enough of them to go through 4.5 liters of rum being consumed. In addition, we went through 3 cases of beer and 21 bottles of wine. And as usual, Becky and Sharon  made sure everyone was well taken care of. The menu and recipes are available at noumena12dining.blogspot.com.

Thanks to Wiley and the crew at Meadowlark for 6 lbs of SHREDDED cheese and providing the asparagus and mushrooms. Rob Leonard who played bar back and made sure there was wine available all night. David Strohscher for producing the ice shards…we are out now so can you please start production again. Dave & Lillian for providing MORE gin. Nik Hunt for bar advice and a great genever Negroni!

Thanks to Taylor Putney and Dan Hursh I actually got to see the roof through pictures. Thanks for the photos! I never remember to take them myself.

2010 Smith-Roberts Winter Holiday Party

I'm late getting the post party update out...it definitely took me longer to "recover" from the party this year. Not sure if that was because I had such a good time or if it is age related. Thank you to Becky, Karen, and Dan!! This party is only successful because they make it so we all have everything we need through out the evening! Thank you!!

Here are the numbers! We raised $1296.00 for the Dayton YWCA Women's Shelter. Thank you for your generosity!!! That brings the total raised for 2010 to $3616 and the total raised since 2008 to $8516. It continues to amaze me how much we have been able to raise through our very generous friends. We love that we can all come together and make a difference.

In case you didn't realize because I certainly didn't, 100 people celebrated the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011 with us consuming 8 lbs of beef, 9 lbs of pork, and 8 lbs of shrimp. In addition, we went through 2918.75ml of liquor (seems low to me), 32 bottles of beer (and no they were not on the wall), 16 bottles of red wine, 10 bottles of champagne, 11 bottles of white wine, 23 cans of pop, and 80 bottles of water.

As always, here is the menu and recipes:

2010 Fireworks Party

Again, we can't THANK YOU enough for your generosity! We raised over $1100 for out new neighbor Good Neighbor House helping people in the Dayton area through tough times. I am continually amazed at how each of us giving a little can add up to make a big difference. Since December 2008, your support brings the total giving from Smith-Roberts parties to over $6000!

73 people braved traffic, parking, and 500 people in the Firefly Building to view the City of Dayton fireworks. John's cocktails were VERY popular! Now on to the damages! :) In addition to 6 lbs of me, 176 lbs of ice, and all the delicious goodies that you provided, we consumed:

Used
Liquor 2575
ml
Beer 37 bottles
Red Wine 1 bottles
Champagne 4 bottles
White Wine 4
bottles

Pop 52 cans
Water 113
bottles

Special thanks go to Becky and Sherri for their help!

Thank you for helping us celebrate the 4th of July!

2009 Holiday Party Revisited

Thank you for your generosity!!! Once again, you have contributed $1,395 to local non-profit organizations:
Clothes That Work $770
Humane Society of Greater Dayton $625

No one was scared off by the threat of snow, we had 112 attendees this year. While there were dire warnings about running out of food, there was a lot of salads left over. However, there was little left of the 9 lbs of pork and the 7 lbs of steak. The big surprise of the evening was when we had gone through ALL 14 bottles of red wine that I had on hand by 9:30pm.

Total Beverage Consumption
Liquor 7870 ml
Beer 55 bottles
Red Wine 21 bottles
Champagne 12 bottles
White Wine 11 bottles

Pop 33 cans
Water 48 bottles

Special thanks to Becky, Dan, and Karen!!! This party would not be a success without you!

Best wishes for a wonderful 2010!
Ann and John
